Tree Care Made Easy: A Quick Checklist for Healthy Trees

Keeping your trees in top shape doesn’t have to be complicated. Regular tree care ensures strong, beautiful trees that enhance your landscape. Follow this simple checklist to keep your trees thriving year-round!

Tree Care Checklist

Be Vigilant & Observant – Keep an eye on your trees for hangers, overgrowth, broken limbs, interference with rooflines, pests, and other potential issues. Early detection helps prevent bigger problems.

Schedule Your Regular Pruning – Keep your trees healthy by setting up routine pruning to remove dead, weak, or overcrowded branches.

Stay on Top of Fertilization – Ensure your trees get the nutrients they need. Bayou Tree Service’s Tree Health Care Program provides seasonal fertilization to mimic the natural forest floor, making tree care effortless for homeowners.

Monitor for Pests & Disease – Look for signs of decay, unusual leaf discoloration, or pest infestations. Regular inspections help catch problems early.

Mulch for Moisture & Protection – Apply a layer of mulch around the base (but not touching the trunk) to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.

Water Wisely – Deep, infrequent watering is best. Established trees need hydration during dry periods, while young trees require more consistent watering.

Check Root Health – Roots can cause damage if left unchecked. Professional maintenance ensures they grow safely away from foundations and sidewalks.

Schedule Professional Tree Care – Certified arborists provide expert pruning, disease management, and seasonal fertilization to keep your trees strong year-round.

Bayou Tree Sales and Marketing Coordinator
I manage the commercial construction bidding process and coordinate Bayou Tree Service’s marketing efforts, including social media and brand direction. On any given day, that means keeping projects organized, helping tell our story, and making sure the Bayou boys stay (mostly) on track. Bayou Tree Service has been part of my life since I was 16, when I started working here during summers and school breaks. Even after earning my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health, I found myself missing the work we do here and the people behind it. Coming back felt natural—this work matters, and being part of it always felt bigger than just a job. I earned my arborist license because I wanted to truly understand what I was writing about and be able to have informed conversations with the arborists in the field. I care deeply about our community and the role we play in preserving the urban canopy, and I take pride in helping share that responsibility through our work. Being part of Bayou Tree Service’s 45-year history means being part of a family—one that values hard work, trust, and doing right by the trees and the people we serve. I’m proud to be part of a company that feels like home and to support work that has lasting impact.
